Aloo Palak/ Potato Spinach

There are so many methods of making aloo palak. This is the dry version. Gravy version Is like palak paneer just add aloo/potato in place of Paneer. Spinach in hindi called palak.


  1. 1 bunch spinach/ palak chopped
  2. 2 medium sized boiled potatoes chopped
  3. 1 tsp ginger chopped
  4. 1 tsp green chili chopped
  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  6. A pinch of asafoetida
  7. 2 tsp coriander powder
  8. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  12. 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  13. 1 tsp oil


  1. Wash and drain chopped spinach.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add asafoetida and cumin seeds to hot oil.
  4. When they start sputtering, add ginger and green chili.
  5. Add turmeric powder , chopped spinach and salt. Sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add boiled chopped potatoes,coriander powder and chili powder.
  7. Mix it well.
  8. lastly add lemon juice and garam masala.

Serve hot with chapati or paratha.

            It is so difficult, isn’t it?
            Those concepts of Trial Balance, Suspense Account, balance sheet, depreciation, process costing and what not.
            itna to i have never had fear of 15-15 pages of derivations in Physics. hahaha, jitna accounts ka darr!!! 🙂

            1. No it’s not difficult. I have done Masters in Commerce. I enjoyed doing all these accounts. The problem which you have in accounts I have in physics .Kabhi samagh hi nahi ayi physics. 10th class me peecha chudaya tha science se. In 11th I took commerce and felt relief.😃

              1. haha, wow it is so nice to know that you too were having the same problem with other subjects, i am not the only one :p. haha hain yeh baat to sahi hain physics is a bit confusing and compliocated, i have pursued B.Sc in my graduation and I am good at both Maths and sciencebut on the other had here in MBA everyone is freaked out due to Maths, because they have left it after 10th and now they had to suffer again with that 😀

  1. Looks gorgeous! I have a question for you. I know that palak means spinach, but for some reason, every time I think of spinach, the word “saag” also comes to my mind. If palak is spinach, what is saag? Just something I’ve been wondering about recently haha 😀
