Oats Rice
My kids don’t like oats with milk so I generally used oats in flour form. But one day when I went for my grocery shopping I find oats quaker packet in which it is written oats for rice so I get that packet and made my regular rice with oats. Here I am using both in equal quantity. You can increase or decrease measure of oats according to tour taste.
Now I am using my rolled oats in place of this packet.
Ingredients
- Rice basmati 3/4 cup
- Rolled Oats 3/4 cup
- Water 2 1/2 cup
Method
- Wash and soak oats and rice for half an hour. Drain it.
- Add water , drained rice and oats in microwave safe bowl for 15 minutes at high temperature.
- Serve warm with any veggie or dal of your choice. I served here with masoor dal.
- Soon I am going to post oats fried rice.
Don’t forget to give your feedback. Let me know how it turned out for you.

This looks so interesting! How did you make it so the oats retained their distinctive shape? 😊

Thanks Carol. I simply cook them with my rice in microwave. I have tried it in pressure cooker also in my post Oats Rice Pulao. Oats retained their shape. So no worries cook them either way..all works😃

I think I need to see what happens. Could I use brown rice?

Yes I think you can use but Brown rice take more time to cook. I also used brown rice but I never tried it with oats as they themselves are very healthy and enough in fibre. If you try with brown rice please tell me then I will also try.

I think I will need to play. Next is your kidney beans and the potatoes with spinach. We are still eating leftovers.

Yes after any gathering 2-3 days are gone like this. Same happens with me also. If I invite any friend then I also have to eat left over for next 2 days

I didn’t plan to have so much leftover. But, fortunately, we liked the menu!

Wha whaat! They don’t like oats! What’s not to like?! 🙂 This is an interesting combination too; we’ve not considered putting oats in our evening rice. Yum! 🙂
